The Gaza Writers Fellowship
The Gaza Writers Fellowship is designed for early-career writers, storytellers and journalists living in Gaza.
The fellowship offers a modest stipend, mentorship and guidance to develop and publish works of non-fiction in English based on original reporting or analysis.
The goal is to shine a spotlight on the Palestinian eye witnesses of Israel’s genocide, to empower young writers to tell their own stories, in their own words, and disseminate their work to as wide an English-speaking audience as possible.
What We Offer
Stipends: Fellows receive a $1,000 grant to support their writing. The goal is to provide writers with the time, space, and stability to research, write and publish their work.
Mentorship: Each fellow is paired with an established writer, editor or journalist who shall provide guidance, feedback and professional development. Mentors will support writers on developing ideas and hooks for stories, interviewing subjects, writing and structuring pieces and finding outlets to publish their work.
Workshops & Training Sessions: The fellowship will include virtual sessions on storytelling, reporting, creative nonfiction, translation, and publication strategies, led by prominent writers and editors.
Who Can Apply
We welcome applications from:
Writers, journalists & essayists currently living in Gaza.
Writers in Gaza who have previously published a piece of non-fiction in Arabic or English, but have not previously published with Palestine Nexus.
Applicants of all levels of experience and background committed to telling stories from Gaza.
